Am I a mathematician or a computer scientist ? I don't know...When I finished high school I was sure I would become a mathematician, but then I changed my mind and I choose the Computer Science courses at Pisa University. When I got my degree I wanted to study Mathematics again and - guess what? - some months before getting my degree I won a competition for a position of computer scientist, but at Department of Mathematics!
I had worked for 10 years as a network and system administrator and since 2008 I am the Department of Mathematics Information System manager. I design relational databases and web applications for teaching and administrative activities.
Some years ago prof. Franco Giannessi introduced me to the Medicine world and since then I have been collaborating with other mathematicians (Alberto, Fabio, Franco, Giuseppe, Isabella, Paola), biologists (Cinzia, Isabella, Silvano) and physicians (Chiara, Fotios, Filippo, Mauro, Ranieri, Sergio, Stephan, Teresa) from different fields.
May I say I am a mathematician AND a computer scientist? I hope so...
In the spare time I used to play bridge (mathematicians should read Théorie du mathématique Bridge à la portée de Tous by Emile Borel) and someone said I played not badly, but I am getting old :( and bridge tournaments are for young people (or retired people...) and now I play seldom if ever.
Two years ago I started studying piano (from scratch), and I enjoy it!
