I am a tenured "ricercatore" of the Math Department of the University of Pisa.
My research field is mathematical logic and its applications. In particular, the main topics of my research are nonstandard methods and their foundations, infinite combinatorics (ultrafilters) and foundational theories of counting (numerosities). Lately, I am focusing on the use of ultrafilters and nonstandard natural numbers in aspects of combinatorial number theory.
I am a member of the editorial board of the journal "Logic and Analysis", and I am the secretary of AILA, the Italian Association of Logic and Applications. In the last years I organized several congresses
