Application for Master’s Degree final exam (COVID-19 Emergency)

ATTENTION: information in this page is valid during the medical emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This page presents information about deadlines and fulfilment to apply for the Master’s Degree final exam; see also the global instructions on the University website (in Italian). The rules for obtaining the final degree grade are detailed in the specific section of the Master’s Course Regulations.

The Master’s Degree thesis must be submitted in electronic format through the ETD portal, following the rules on the University website.

Note. “Secretary’s office” means the office in the Mathematics Department; “Student affairs office” means the central office of the University, located in building D in Largo Pontecorvo 5.

Within 30 days before the graduation session

  • Online: submit the final exam application through the Alice portalNote: if none of the supervisors belongs to the University of Pisa or others Pisan academic institutions, please contact the President of the Course of Study before the submission;
  • Secretary’s office: send the proposal of the controrelatore (co-examiner), using Attachment 3/LM (in Italian), to segdid@dm.unipi.it; it is possible to print, fill in, and scan the document or, if you are unable to do so, you can also provide all the necessary information by writing it in the mail body. The proposal must contain three different names.

Within 15 days before the graduation session

  • Student affairs office: upload the following documentation through the Alice portal:
  • Secretary’s office: send the following documentation to segdid@dm.unipi.it:
    • final exam application (Attachment 4/LM, in Italian); it is possible to print, fill in, and scan the document or, if you are unable to do so, you can also provide all the necessary information by writing it in the mail body;
    • abstract of the thesis (2 pages max.) in pdf format;
    • copy of the last approved programme of study, which have to be requested to Chiara Luzzati (chiara.luzzati@unipi.it);
    • copy of the receipt of the evaluation questionnaire;
    • copy of the thesis in pdf format. Note. It is not necessary to send a complete certification of the exams taken during the Course, which will be acquired directly by the Secretary’s office.

Note. For students that apply for the Master’s Degree under the old law (509/99), the fulfilment is the same as above with the following differences:

  • they should use attachments 3/LS and 4/LS instead of attachments 3/LM and 4/LM respectively;
  • within 15 days before the graduation session at the Secretary’s office they should send, in addition to all the documentation above, also a certification of the exams taken during the Bachelor’s Degree Course.
