Management Structure
 

MATHforHEALTH requires a coordinated management approach, aimed to ensure effective and successful development of the Doctorate Programme. Academic and non academic multi-professional network' collaboration will therefore be facilitated by a 2-level structured management organisation (strategic and operational level). The Coordinator (Dept. Mathematics-UNIPI) will be responsible for the management strategies and of the overall monitoring of the Beneficiares' performance towards achieving the project objectives and the committed resources, coadiuvated by a Supervisory Board and an Executive Board. A Scientific and and Administrative Manager will also assist the Coordinator to assess the project progress, and to address specific critical aspects such as quality and risk management. Work package leaders will be responsible for execution or their individual WPs and will directly report to the Coordinator.

Supervisory Board (SB) (strategic level)

The Supervisory Board (SB) will be composed of the Coordinator and one representative per academic and non academic Beneficiares. The board will oversee the quality of the programme. From the second year of the project two external experts, representative of health industry, cooperate with the SC in order to critically re-examine, and possibly improve, the quality and applicability of scientific objectives, monitor the excellence of the individual projects of fellows and orient their potential interest for pharmaceutical companies. Additional external expert will be invited to participate the SB and to give expertise assessment on the quality of training and research results. The SB will also oversee the quality and quantity of supervision of the ESRs .

An adequate balance between scientific/technological and transferable skills training shall be achieved through personalized research projects and training, appropriate to the needs of each recruited researcher. Specific research projects shall be associated with project advisors.

 

The SB will meet once a year phisically, and at least once a year or anytime needed virtually.

Executive Board (EB) (operational level)

The EB will be composed of the Coordinator, the Scientific Manager, the Administrative Manager, and one representative per academic and non academic Beneficiares. Also one elected PhD representative will participate to EB meetings, without voting rights, who wll be charged with the task of keeping channels of communication open and flowing in both directions between the EB and the PhD sudent body. The EB will meet once a year physically, and at least once a year or anytime needed virtually.

The EB is responsible for organisation and monitoring the Doctorate Program as well as for physical resources allocation.

Selection Committee (SeC)

The Selection Committee will be responsible for the preparation of the call, and the evaluation of applicants. The SeC will be composed by a representative of each academic Beneficiar, selected by the Steering Committee on the basis of their curricula.

Project Coordinator (PC).The PC is assigned to Vladimir Georgiev who is supported by the administrative offices of Dept. of Mathematics and University of Pisa. The Project Coordinator is in charge of the overall execution of the Grant Agreement. He is the leading authority of the Consortium and the interface between the Consortium and the EC.

The partner acting as Coordinator is UNIPI, which will be involved in most part of the overall management activities.

Scientific Manager (SM)

The Scientific Manager coordinates the management of critical issues and questions that may arise related to any scientific and didactic aspect of the project, and to facilitate the interactions among the Beneficiares and between them and the project coordinator.

The SM is responsible for the production of the periodic scientific reports requested by the EU, and for revising and monitoring the information related the project that is diffused through the Doctorate Programme's website .

The Scientific Management is assigned to Maria Laura Manca.

Administrative Manager (AM)

The AM is appointed by the Coordinator and deals with the financial and administrative management of the project including preparation of the coordinator cost statements, submission of the financial periodic reports, the day-to-day administrative support functions of the PhD Programme.
