Luca Heltai Among the Winners of the SIAM/ACM Prize in Computational Science and Engineering 2025

We are pleased to announce that Luca Heltai, Associate Professor at our Department, is among the winners of the prestigious SIAM/ACM Prize in Computational Science and Engineering 2025. The award, given every two years by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), recognizes outstanding contributions to the development and use of mathematical and computational tools for solving scientific and engineering problems.

Prof. Heltai was honored alongside the other lead authors of the deal.II project, a highly influential open-source library for the numerical solution of partial differential equations using finite element methods. The software stands out for its high quality and modularity, providing well-documented algorithms and data structures that enable entire communities to develop advanced computational models.

The award ceremony will take place during the SIAM Conference on Computational Science and Engineering, scheduled for March 3–7, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

Congratulations to Prof. Heltai on this remarkable achievement! For more details on the conference and the award, please visit the official website.
