How to enrol

For more info on procedures and deadlines with regards to:

  • matriculation;
  • enrolment;
  • transfer from or to other universities;
  • changes from or to a different degree programmes;

you must contact the Student Office of the University of Pisa.

Admission requirements

To be admitted to the Degree Program in Mathematics, in addition to good written and oral communication skills, the following knowledge of elementary mathematics is required:

  • operations and inequalities involving fractions;
  • operations and inequalities involving real numbers;
  • familiarity with manipulating simple algebraic expressions and solving first- and second-degree algebraic equations and inequalities;
  • basic elements of Euclidean geometry and analytic geometry;
  • familiarity with the definitions and basic properties of elementary functions (polynomials, exponentials, logarithms, and trigonometric functions).

Possession of this knowledge is verified through an entry knowledge assessment test, for which more information is available on the dedicated page. Students who do not take the test or do not achieve a passing score may still enroll in the Degree Programme in Mathematics, but they will be assigned an Additional Learning Requirement (OFA) that must be fulfilled. The OFA is considered completed according to the rules available on the dedicated page.
