Scholarships

DSU Scholarship

Students may apply for a DSU scholarship (the Regional Authority of Tuscany for the Right to University Education) and obtain full or partial exemption from university fees based on family income.

The full scholarship includes free meals and accommodation, as well as an allowance to cover additional expenses (such as sports activities, books, etc.).

For further information, please consult the relevant page on the university website and the DSU Toscana website.

INdAM Scholarship

Another important opportunity for students enrolling in Mathematics is the INdAM (National Institute of Higher Mathematics “Francesco Severi”) scholarships.

Bachelor’s Degree

INdAM scholarships are awarded through a national competition. Typically, at least 30 scholarships are offered each worth €4,000. Recipients cannot combine them with other scholarships but may renew the INdAM scholarship for the official duration of the degree program (for first-level degrees, 3 years). Renewal requires that all exams scheduled for the current and previous academic years be passed by December 31, with a credit-weighted average of at least 27/30 and no grade below 24/30.

Master’s Degree

INdAM scholarships are awarded through a national competition. For several years, the Department of Mathematics in Pisa has also funded additional scholarships, with particular attention to gender balance. Scholarship holders cannot combine them with other grants but may request reimbursement of up to €1,000 for travel, accommodation, and meals incurred during academic trips in Italy or abroad for participation in conferences, scientific meetings, or for study and research purposes related to their thesis work. In addition, students may be awarded a final prize of up to €2,000 based on the evaluation of their Master’s thesis.

NOTE: Additional scholarships will continue to be funded in the coming academic years using resources obtained through the Departiment of Excellence.
