Abstract
Hironaka’s desingularization results are very powerful tools that allow to desingularize algebraic sets defined over fields of characteristic zero. If S ⊂ Rn is a semialgebraic set (i.e. the set of solutions of finitely many systems of equations and inequalities), what does it mean ‘desingularize S’? In this talk we will see how to desingularize (a certain class of) semialgebraic sets and some applications of this result.
